Navigating JR Tokyo and Shinjuku Station

**Please Note** 

Meeting time on the platform is announced in the confirmation sheet or Tour Information. Specific car numbers on the platform are announced at least seven days before the tour.

JR Tokyo Station (For Niigata and Toyama Tours)

Tips: 

  • Arrive at the station at least 25 minutes before the departure time. 30 min is ideal. Tokyo Station is huge and it is easy to get lost.

  • Buy some snacks or drinks on the platform or at the station. Many Shinkansen do not have the cart service anymore.

How to get to the meeting point for Niigata & Toyama Tour at Tokyo Station: 

Step 1: How to get to Tokyo Station

Taxi

Getting to Tokyo Station by taxi from your hotel is the best way. Once you get the taxi from your hotel, they will drop you off at the Yaesu Entrance Taxi drop off area next to Daimaru Department Store

Public transportation (JR)

If you take the JR lines, please find the transfer gate to Tohoku, Joetsu, Nagano, Hokuriku Shinkansen.

Step 2: Inside the Tokyo Station

Follow Tohoku/Yamagata/Akita/Hokkaido/Joetsu/Hokuriku Shinkansen sign

Inside the station, look for Tohoku, Yamagata, Akita, Joetsu, Nagano Shinkansen Tracks signs (image above). Go inside the gate. You need to insert your ticket to go through the gate. Don’t forget to grab your ticket on your way out.

Step 3: Get to the Platform

Check the board for the correct track number (image above). Go up to the platform and find the specific car number informed. Our Tour Leader will meet you on the platform.

JR Shinjuku Station (For Nagano Tour)

Tips: 

  • Arrive at the station at least 20 minutes before the departure time. Shinjuku Station in the morning is very busy and it is easy to get lost.

  • Buy some snacks or drinks at the station.

Step 1: How to get to Shinjuku Station

Taxi

Taxi from your hotel is the best way. South Exit (Minami Guchi) or Koshu Kaido Gate are easy to access by taxi. Look for bus terminal (Basuta), Takashimaya, Lumine.

Public transportation (JR)

If you take the JR lines, please find the transfer gate to platform 9/10 to board JR Limited Express Azusa 5


Step 2: Get to the platform

Find Platform 9 and 10 for JR Limited Express Azusa or Kaiji.
