Niigata Sake Tour

HIGHLIGHTS

Discover the essence of Niigata— one of Japan's premier sake-producing regions.

With more than 90 breweries, this prefecture is a sanctuary for sake lovers. Explore four very different breweries, each offering an intimate glimpse into their local cultural heritage.

Delight in the elevated hospitality of Niigata's esteemed society with an exquisite dinner complemented by a traditional Geisha performance. Visit a brewery in a remote mountain town famous in Japanese folklore for mysterious lights appearing in the mountains.

Revel in the renowned flavors of Niigata, where the celebrated local rice and fresh seafood promise a culinary odyssey. In historic Murakami, unravel the intricacies of local salmon culture and cherish a moment of reflection over Japanese tea in a traditional machiya tea house.

Travel deeper into the mountains and enjoy lunch hosted by local farmers, learn about life in their village and what they are doing to revitalise their community.

Journey to the culturally-rich Sado Island, where the heartbeat of drums call to you on this rugged and remote island.

Visit a former elementary school now turned 'school brewery' and learn about the philosophy behind one of Sado's most famous breweries.

Pick up sticks and experience a full taiko drum work out with the Kodo. Conclude your escapade with a tranquil soak in an open-air onsen by the sea, before a final banquet dinner of local food and sake.

Become a part of the story as you meet local brewers, artisans and farmers and discover the philosophies that shape their crafts. Indulge in abundant sake tastings, savor exquisitely prepared meals, and venture deep into the heart of a region that prides itself on rice and sake production.

This is more than a trip—it's a pilgrimage for the senses, an invitation to wander, wonder, and connect deep with the soul of Niigata and Sado Island.
