Nagano Sake Tour

HIGHLIGHTS

Escape into the tranquil beauty of Nagano, a land where tradition and nature blend seamlessly. Join us for a 5-day sojourn through this enchanting region renowned for its seasonal beauty, cultural heritage, and unique culinary experiences. Engage with local artisans, sake masters, and culinary custodians of this storied Japanese prefecture.

Visit the southern part of Nagano during the koyo season and enjoy the changing colors of the autumn leaves. Matsumoto will be our base for three nights as we explore the central region. We then travel in the valley along the Central and Southern Alps and enjoy our last night in a traditional Japanese Ryokan overlooking a tranquil gorge.

Explore the local sake and cuisine of the mountainous region of Nagano. Visit 4 of Nagano's unique breweries for tours and tastings. Taste real fresh wasabi and enjoy heirloom Kame No O rice cooked at a local farm.

Dine at a modern style European influenced Japanese restaurant hidden deep in the mountains that is run by a couple who forage for ingredients. Experience '’shin'’ soba and other local delicacies.

Enjoy a picnic at an apple orchard in the mountains and pick Nagano’s famous Fuji apples straight from the tree.

Discover the ancient art of Urushi lacquerware on the Nakasendo. Visit the workshop of a shimenawa straw rope studio that makes the straw ropes for the ring of Sumo tournaments and try making ancient mizuhiki paper cord decorations yourself with a local master.
